and
i find myself no longer angry or hurt by it, but sad. and not for me, because i am too far on the other side of caring anymore, but for the sufferer. to be so consumed, so lacking in any sort of self esteem that you genuinely believe that there is conspiracy against you and your group has to be an awful thing. and i mean no mockery here. i am geniunely saddened that someone has worked themselves into such a corner, and not a little concerned for them. the levels of adrenaline that the body would sustain in that kind of stress is not healthy.
there is no way to explain to the sufferer that the perception is wholly untrue, and the feared conspiracy, stalking, hacking software, does not exist. i can point it all out, direct the individual to the third-party software homepage to show that the feared behavior is impossible to accomplish by stealth, but it would all be to no avail. even posting this entry will, in all likelihood, feed into the paranoia.
and how does one back out of that gracefully, on the off chance that someone was able to make that individual see reason? is there a way to suffer from paranoia and not be clinically paranoid?
and how would you explain to the sufferer without further hurting that person that, not only are you NOT engaged in a conspiracy to monitor their every movement and communication, but you are not engaged in such because their movements and communications are genuinely of no interest to you whatsoever? wouldn't that make it all infinitely worse? they'd been working all this time fueled by, in their perception, righteous indignation only to find out that their perception was wrong, that they'd maligned the character of several people with no cause?
a conundrum to say the least.
i wish i could just say, "hey, can't we just put all this aside and work for Farscape?", [because you *knew* this had to be about Farscape] but that's been tried, countless times, and sadly, it never works.
taking ideas.
