Instapundit links to an essay on what the word 'bipartisanship' should mean.

Bipartisanship has its usefulness but calling for it seems as effective as shaking an angry fist at the sky to change the weather. If I were to issue Congress a challenge, it would be to respect the intelligence and integrity of the people they disagree with. Such respect would not magically transform the nation into a bipartisan dreamland but I think it would go a long way toward changing the divisive and frankly nasty tone of political monologues.
