apparently there's a holiday
Oct. 14th, 2005 04:47 pmsince i rarely use them, i guess that's why i didn't know. although, technically, i suppose it's because i work very hard to stay on the razor's edge of fandom and this stuff doesn't typically cross my path. that said, the closest thing to the beta process for me is pm'ing
themonkeycabal and asking the "does this suck?" question. i don't always do that though. there's plenty of stuff, (and by plenty i mean not a lot as i don't post a lot), i've posted "unbeta'd", which bothers me not in the least, and i don't feel any great compunction to put a qualifier on those posts, one way or the other actually. that makes me odd, i reckon, but then, that's not really anything new. i did send the first two parts of the SGA fic i'm writing to
starsgoblue, but that was simply a thinly-veiled way to get her to read SGA fic because she insists that she won't. (she'll cave. you watch.)
so, uhm, yeah, happy holiday folks. by whatever measure and however used, the person answering the "does this suck?" question is truly invaluable, whether that answer is a minor tweak, major tune-age, or the snarky "ohmigod, how can you even THINK about posting this??? it's HORRIBLE, YOU LOSER!" or that last one could just be me and spook.
