oh. man you are slippin... ;) [shyea, like I remembered :eyeroll:]
seems like a dream of a dream doesn't it? most teenagers now will have little/no idea what it was about, or why it was important... call it a lack of faith if you wish, but I'd bet most people don't even think of China as being communist, but then they don't seem to want to spread ideology as they once did. I thought a bit about all this when somebody put up "Christmas at Ground Zero" by weird Al... and I wondered how many people really got what the song was about...
when i was a little girl they still said mass in latin. i remember that. i remember repeating The Apostles' Creed, praying for the freedom of Russia and China. it was just something you did as a Catholic, because Mary told the Children at Fatima that it mattered. whenever we'd drive somewhere long, or if we took my mom to the cemetery, Dad would say the rosary. it's just what he did. and we'd pray for the conversion of Russia and China. because that's just what you did.
and then i grew up. and then Reagan got elected. and then the world paid attention.
I thought a bit about all this when somebody put up "Christmas at Ground Zero" by weird Al....
it really bugged that i missed paying my respects at The Pile when i was in Manhattan.
