i don't know that i'd drop that exclusively at Catholicism's door, but they certainly share the problem, and in this case they're the ones makin' the noise.

i just can't figure out why religious leaders of this stripe don't get that this kind of behavior does nothing to help them. sure, the weak-minded are gonna bleet their submission, but those with brains and faith are going to be insulted.

Catholic school girl here, from an Italian/German Roman Catholic family. i can SOOOO relate. for all of the strides they've made, they still seem to manage to take gigantic steps backward.
