the rules of film thus far:

1. everything will cost twice as much, and take twice as long, as you originally estimated.

2. never use your own money. (see rule #1)

3. there's no such thing as too much crew.

4. the director's wife is always a bitch producer.

5. no crew is way more problematic than no film stock. (see rule #1)

6. when you have bad craft services, you get rule #5. (see rule #3)

7. mean people suck.

8. reliability is worth its weight in film stock and bottled water.

9. deal memos are good things.

10. producers that give a fuck are worth their weight in film stock and bottled water...and are equally as rare.

11. yes, you are, in fact, certifiably insane, because the job is insane and you keep going back.

12. you may also, in fact, be clinically brain damaged, because the job falls into your definition of "fun" large portions of the time.

13. the power of the word "committment" is a sight to behold.

14. being the pitiful stepchild on the backlot can sometimes get you some great swag.

15. laughter heals it all. (see rules #11 and #12)
