i actually liked this episode...it felt more like old school sg1 to me for some reason. loved cam and sheppard (even though i can't stand sga, sorry dude), and cam and mckay. heh vala was a little too well behaved though.

i loved this ep, so, i hope you didn't interpret from my comment that i didn't. or, were you commenting that you were surprised that you did?

i don't want it to feel like "old school" sg-1. i want it to feel like it's comfortable in it's own skin. it's starting to feel like it is.

don't apologize for not liking sga. don't ever apologize for your own taste. ever. that's just silly. we may point and laugh, but only with love. personal taste is a trippy, nebulous thing and i'm always amazed when so many people like so much about the same stuff. that's the rarity, really.

vala didn't strike me as too well behaved at all. she's on this mission with them because it matters to her as well. her core personality was still clearly visible but, to me, it shows character depth that she's willing to supress her selfishness for something as important as, oh, i dunno, saving the galaxy? ;)

i was saying more that i was surprised (pleasantly) to have liked the episode. last season was disappointing to me. it felt very dead, especially when vala wasn't there.

maybe feeling like old school sg1 isn't quiet what i meant. i think i meant what you meant: that it feels together. like its all finding its place/groove/stride/whatever.

i more just didn't want to offend when i said i didn't like sga, b/c i know you are a fan(girl). its funny how bizarre personal taste is. and how people will say something like, "if you liked (insert show here) you'll LOVE!!!11! this (insert other show here)" and so you check it out only to find that you hate it because though maybe its similar in some ways to what you liked about one show, its totally different from why you loved that one show. does that make any sense at all? i'm rambling. i've been out in the sun. you can ignore me...

vala seems to have been toned down a lot from the beginning of last season. she was all action and bubbly and such and they just seem to have toned it down...which is all fine and well if i feel like she's growing as a character, but i didn't see that this week. when she was dealing with the shrink the week before i saw her character grow a bit, which was cool....again with the rambling...

i dunno that i'd call myself a fangirl of SGA. i'm SOOOOO a fangirl of Joe Flannigan, but other than that, i just find SGA very amusing because i refuse to take it seriously. so you go right ahead and not like it and i'll just smile and totally understand why.;)

i think i meant what you meant: that it feels together. like its all finding its place/groove/stride/whatever.

it definately feels more comfortable with itself.

the circumstances have totally changed though, from when she was first introduced. her telling Daniel to just ask the interface, because it would take all of 11 seconds, is very much Vala. i think they have a good handle on her. ymmocv

Definately.

it's interesting to me how no one comments on that.

No one as in no one besides Daniel, or no one in the fan world/TPTB?

I'm not familiar with the Ancients/Ascended storylines except by hearsay, but they remind me of the Q in ST:TNG-VOY, two factions opposed. I guess I just don't find them that interesting, when the show as a whole isn't that interesting to me, except for character interaction.

I didn't follow too much of the plot, but I loved the meshing of SG1-Atlantis personnel.

that's funny because they don't remind me of the Q at all.

Ah. yes, the ancients tend to get ignored, don't they?

BTW, they don't remind me of Q, either, to be honest.

i could posit a theory why they tend to get ignored, other than "jeez, they suck" kind of posts, but it's far too much effort and would, in all likelihood, piss people off. so, you know, no thanks.

Oh come on. I actually think it would be interesting. Really. I mean, besides the fight. *evil grin*

heh.

i think people don't discuss it because it doesn't fit what they've projected onto the show. they like their perceived "America is bad/evil/imperialistic/whatever" viewpoint - that the team and the SGC do more harm than good without consequences - thinks the show supports that viewpoint, and to actually then acknowledge that the Ancients are the peace-at-ANY-price-TOTAL-non-interference metaphor interferes with that.
