this, yes, although i think it's also a defense mechanism, quite honestly. they can't understand that someone would want their destruction simply because they exist. it's a concept they refuse to grasp, so, in the brain's attempt to adjust/explain/make sense, they have to find reasons, and the only reasons that seem rational to them, because the events are SOOOO horrible, is that we must have done something to deserve it. it's classic victim symptomology.
