I read the comments tied to that discussion, and I see they're using statistical analysis and logical arguments to support their theories. I was always under the impression that global warming didn't just cause a rise in temperature, but actually caused extreme weather patterns. So there might be a cycle of cooling interspersed with cycles of warming. Whether global warming is existent or not is anyone's guess, but someone sure is going to great lengths to deter publication of data relating to this topic. Why would that be? Here is an article that refers to this suppression of data that might be of interest: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/12/13/ap/tech/mainD8M075VO0.shtml

and that's the crux of my bitch. it's not that i doubt that mankind has had, and could continue to have, a negative effect on the planet, but rather it's the cheerleading that's making us the scourge of the planet so willingly that i have issues with. because if we are reactionary, as humans are wont to be, in the wrong direction we stand a very good chance of doing more harm than good.
so then wouldn't it behoove all parties involved to seek, and make available, the MOST information possible?
One data point doesn't make or break a long-term trend. If we get 5 years of downward temperatures, or better yet a 20 year downward trend, I will joyfully concede your point.
