i mean, in so far as they're both female, sure, but arguing that Hillary would be the first, thus, therefore legitimately comparable to Thatcher, is doing something incredibly stupid like, oh i don't know, ignoring every female ruler the planet has ever had?????
ah, so they're hoping that no-one remembers what Mags was really like eh? Uh, Hilly, you can't compare yourself to someone like that unless you share their ideals, otherwise you muddy your own message. She may be targetting the 20-30 somethins, but they don't vote in the numbers that older people do. Older people who REMEMBER Mags, who remember the times that the cold war was one atom's breadth from being a hot one.
Honestly, when will the dems realize that they have to run on what THEY stand for, and not as "we're not W". Who gives a flying frell about W at that point? Not ENOUGH people revile W for that to work. If the gop can put up someone decent, then Hilly wont have enough suppor to take it. IMHO she just isn't likable enough. I'm thinkin that Obama will get the dem's nod, BECAUSE he isn't that experienced, If he ran with Richardson as his 2nd, I think it would be a good combo, charisma AND experience.
The worst thing for the GOP right now is that I can't think of any of their candidates, except McCain. That isn't good. If they can't pull together some dynamism, they aren't going to generate a solid defence. The GOP has to state what it is for as well, they'd better get the message out there...
i guess, like David mentions, she's just assumed that no one would notice? i mean, hello? the woman made Reagan look liberal. (and i say that as someone who has great affection for the Reagan/Thatcher Two Punch.) did she think we'd all died or something?
For me, it's not so much what Hillary says, it's how she sounds when she says it - strident, and no variation in tone or pitch. It's like she's yelling.
The most "humanizing" thing she could do, IMO, is to get a voice coach, and work to develop a more natural speaking style.
