wow. i'm with Fred on this one.

were i around back when Ghandi was making such statements, i'm fairly certain i would have told him to have a coke and a smile and shut the frak up.

eh, like anyone who is idolized, Ghandi the man had plenty 'o foibles... interestingly I wonder if by his standards, the people of India should have just accespted colonial rule. oh wait... on the other claw, I don't think anyone should be penalized for idealizing a historical figure's virtues, while minimizing their vices, as long as they accept that the real person had them. I surely like Albert Einstein, even though I know full well there were things he did and thought that I wouldn't agree with. I'm sure Abe was a bear when having a headache, and who knows if Socrates kicked his dog? I'm sure Marty Luther was a real piece of work, but I still follow his religious truths. I guess what I wish is that we don't bother sinking to this level in political discourse, because it's unnecessary... It's clear that the code-pink-anti-warriors are rigid and inflexible, but they could be felled with just one question: "are you suggesting we consign Iraq to it's fate? Do you seriously call yourself humanitarians, when the bloodshed would make Darfur look like a small police action, and the liklihood is that a regional Islamic war would erupt."

We don't need to attack Ghandi, and it's a bad idea in the long run, when you can point out real fallicies within code-pink. The attack sword cuts both ways...

oh, and while I'm wishing... I wanna pony ;)

I love Fred. Gandhi could be pretty weird sometimes, like when he was forgoing tempatations he deliberately placed in his way, to test himself. Odd.

i think the underlying philosophy is sound, but like anything else, extremes don't work in their execution.
