right this second, i am transforming an otherwise fairly fucked evening at work into a fandom joy fest, because.........the ev0l empire of Best Buy had Robin of Sherwood, series 1 and 2, OUT ON DVD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /geek (cofax, i'm lookin' at you. *g*)

yeah, the Clannad soundtrack is a >< teeny bit synth!irritating in spots, but not enough to mar my deep, deep, fangirl love, and some of it's still downright haunting. Ray Winstone as the most utterly insane Will Scarlett ever is sending my heart a flutter....and then there's pretty boy Michael Praed as Loxley. mmmmmmmmm, Loxley. PLUS!!!, Judy Trott is, like, the best Marion since Audrey Hepburn. [what? you didn't know Holly Golightly was the Maid Marion? silly, silly humans. Robin and Marion; Sean Connery, Audrey Hepburn, Robert Shaw (as Nottingham) and Nicol Williamson (as John)...all bittersweet and regretful.]

also picked up were The Bourne Supremacy, Grosse Pointe Blanke and The Departed.

eta: ZOMG!!!!!! there's an outtake with Gisbourne, Nottingham and his Grace the Archbishop breaking out into Crosby and Kaye's "Sisters" skit from White Christmas!!!!!!!!1111111

i heart them.

much viewing yumminess.

Does that mean that the series has aged well? I absolutely adored that show when it was on, but I've been scared to re-watch for fear that it wouldn't be as good as I remember it.

heh, Robin and Marion... my favorite story about what happens after you win...
Maid Marian: You never wrote.
Robin Hood: I don't know how.
and you forgot Richard Harris as the Lionheart...
hmm, perhaps I'll have to look into this robin of sherwood... :D

Wow, I may have to get this, just to validate my young fangirl leanings. (1988! I ask you!)

I do adore Ray Winstone: it's so nice that he's continuing to get work. How's the quality? Do they look nice?

they do. i'm both surprised and not. the lack the modern, i dunno, crispness? but the viewing isn't diminished at all. i honestly think it was filters used. and there's a bit in the opening pilot where the light does this funky thing, like it blurs or something, but i don't think that's source degradation. i don't actually know how to describe it. you'll have to watch - says the enabler - and then lemme know.

COME SQUEE WITH ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
