May. 3rd, 2007 05:55 pmGo Fred, go; Thompson does a smackdown of Micheal Moore, Hollywood and Castro.
in his article, Fred mentions Andy Garcia's [utterly brilliant] film The Lost City; a film that Hollywood completely snubbed. and i call the film brilliant not solely because of the content - it's cinematically gorgeous, and while their roles are fairly small, both Hoffman and Murray should have been nominated for their performances. but that will never happen in a Hollywood where plastering Che Guevara images all over persons and property is considered both stylish and politically profound.
you want to know the truth about Castro and conditions in Cuba? Michael Moore ain't your man. try watching Garcia's film to get a taste because, you know, crazy earth logic here, Garcia's a refugee from Cuba and his family lived the butchery, loss and heartache first hand.
as an aside, i always thought it deeply telling to see who didn't co-star in Garcia's film. there could have been perfectly legimitate reasons of business and previous committment of course, but then it did take Andy 14 years to get The Lost City to the big screen, so it's not like they couldn't find the time.
