And the people who'd flown in for this intimate first screening, a day after the film had been shipped to the Cannes Film Festival, included grateful Sept. 11 "first responders," suffering lung problems or other ailments from their days at ground zero. In the film, Moore takes them to Cuba and tries to get them treated at the U.S. base at Guantanamo Bay--where, he contends, terror suspects were getting better medical care than the heroes of 9/11.

source link.

you ignorant, malicious, willfully obtuse fuck.

of course they're not going to get treated at Gitmo, it's a military installation. and gawd, i should hope those prisoners are getting good health care. that's our fucking moral responsibility.

you want to be an actual voice of dissent, Michael? then have the true courage to "document" the whole story. because the whole story is messy, and it's gray, and has no clear cut bad guys, and maybe doesn't make the point you want it to.

the karmic wheel is going to come back around on Michael Moore, and when it does, he's Tony Goldwyn in Ghost. i could feel bad about that, and yet....

the moment I got done with mikey, was the moment I realized years ago that it is easy to carp about change when you don't actually have to do it yourself. If he wants to ask a really tough question, what causes people in a sucessfull country to become so self loathing? Or why do those same people only ever point out the bad, instead of being a force for good? He wants good cheap healthcare? India, amongst others. But then he would have to admit that healthcare is based purely on the economic disparity between the countries, and the more successful they get, the more they will be like us, looking for care somewhere else.

i don't think he ever was actually interested in dissent, as much a self agrandizement. He likes all this. The more outrageous he is, the more the more the ultra-consevative liberals like it. He has never really told truth in his films, which I regard as 'Based on events' rather than documentary about them. As with a lot of people grating on me at the moment, facts just aren't enough. You watch, I'll bet he figures out a way to blame Darfur on W. I might even bet money...
