But I thought them not sending Billy back was kind of a cop-out. They could've gotten someone else to send the message, right? And kept Billy with them until they got the TARDIS back and just brought him back to 2007, right?

I figure the time loop hogtied the Doctor in this, though. Because Sally told him in the envelope that she heard from Billy, he really didn't have a choice-- if he tried to bring Billy back, the loop's broken, and it sets the Reavers on them....

the rhythm of the ep, linguistically, stylistically, was sooooo awesome. it just moved so well, which, you know, is totally what made it creepy, i think.

Haha, yep! I love it. As a longtime member of a forum dedicated to horror DVDs, I've seen my fair share of geekery over easter eggs and other extras. It's just so scarily true.

You're right about the flow of the episode. The story was so solid and moved along effortlessly. Maybe that's part of why the episode seemed to end so much faster than usual... or maybe it's just a weird timey-wimey thing I don't quite understand yet. *nods*
