the furor over this is that it actually isn't illegal. this kid, with a good lawyer, or even a not totally crappy one, will own that city when he's done.
ayup. interception of electronic communications...thus the phrase "tapping the wire". even their own statute that they arrested him under specifies that.
totally. and their argument was the video was fine but the audio was a problem. which, i don't see how, because 1)they are public servants performing their duties. that makes them subject to scrutiny. 2) recording ambient audio while recording footage IS NOT electronic interception of electronic communication. 3)how do they explain how scanners *aren't* illegal by that same bullshit statute? /disgusted
