FanLib is proud to announce the official launch of Star Trek: Kirk vs. Picard (KvP). We're excited because this is the first time CBS has ever invited fans to officially play in the Star Trek™ universe at an online fan writing event. [they say that like CBS has done loads of "online writing events", whatevertf those are, and this is the first time one has been opened up to fans, who prior to this have only been spectators of the non-existent events.]

Even if you're not a Star Trek fan, KvP provides a unique opportunity to stretch your writing skills by collaborating with other fans and get credit for your writing. You'll be guided by Star Trek writer/producer Andre Bormanis. [get what kind of credit exactly? what format is the product in?]

It's also an opportunity to win some cool prizes for writing, reviewing, or just participating. Prizes include a Vegas trip, the new Apple iPhone, and gift certificates to the Star Trek store. If you sign up by Tuesday, June 19th, you could win one of our random drawings for an Apple MacBook or personalized items from Actors George Takei (Sulu on The Original Series) and Wil Wheaton (Wesley Crusher on The Next Generation).[shiny shit doesn't hide the fact that you STILL aren't explaining the details, yo. and uhm, we're still noticing that.]

The first mission is to discuss and vote for the story idea you want to write or read as a script. Next week, the writing and reviewing begins. they just really don't know how not to be deeply obnoxious. and seriously, wtf, Kirk vs Picard? what is that? gawd, as if they needed anymore proof articulating our assertions that they incorrectly STILL do not understand who the genre audience is, and has been the whole time.

For some reason, this is the funniest thing to me. You probably mean beam as in wood? The first thing I thought was beam as in light. Yes, yes, I know, I'm one brick short of a hod load. But I laughed very hard and that's what counts.

re the KvP..I don't think writers should be "guided" by anyone but themselves. That's what fanfic should be about. Now, when it comes to canon...What was the name of that girl who wrote LFN fic with M weeping and wailing constantly. Sobbing all the time. Was she Silk Angel?
