i remember going to a party in Reseda when i was 17. it was maybe a week after Raiders came out. they had a podium in the middle of an entry hall so large you could call it a vestibule. sitting on the podium was a television running a bootleg copy of Raiders that was obviously filmed in the theater off the screening. it was magnificent, and i remember vividly being fascinated by the grainy brilliance of the scene in the opening sequence where the camera slowly closes on the idol, and it's all glowing and gold. mmmmmmm, Indy. /fangirl

Oh that sounds like a lovely memory of it. I was only 9 when Raiders came out in the theaters, but I was about 11 when I saw it for the first time on VCR and the part where the Nazis got fried terrified me. I hid under my blanket on the floor and wouldn't look up again until my dad gave me the all clear.
