and here's a bit from Roger Simon discussing how politics has become personal and how problematic that is. i don't agree with his belief that it might all be too late, because i personally think that's defeatist nonsense, not to mention self-fullfilling - which is part of the problem now, imho, in that, if people would stop going "woes! it's never going to change! we're doomed! the [insert side here] have taken over!" then people could actually remember to think clearly and work to solve the problems - but i certainly agree with what he posits is the source of the vehemence, especially since i've been a victim of it.
