woah... I'd be on the next plane outta the country... and THAT is the most jacked up thing in reality. IF, for the sake of argument, they believe this person to have meunchausen's all they have done is garuntee that she will leave, thus putting the child in harm's way.
That in the crazy mixed up Brazil world that they must inhabit, 'cuz where's the due process? Checks and balances? These ideas are still known in the UK aren't they? Sounds like the kid has been victimized a number of times. I wonder if they have some kind of organization to take up her fight, I hope so.
Where as here in the US, social services often gives children back to parents or relatives who harmed them in the first place. Not always, of course, but often enough to make you wonder, what were they thinking?
I hope they come to their senses in the next 4 months.
no system is foolproof for certain, and i have my share of CPS horror stories, but proactively deciding without any substantial proof that someone MIGHT be a bad parent justifies taking a child away is the worst sort of slippery slope. because really, what's next, eugenics? does the gov't get to now decide that this woman doesn't have the right to bear any more children?
