hey, i'm sorry to read the new gig didn't work out. i've got a couple pints of boddington's waiting on the counter and i only claim one of those pints for myself (in light of the Met's utterly disgraceful demise.)

on a different note, i just caught the pilot of studio 60. i thought it was brilliant, but i read the show was cancelled. what gives? tdr

mmmm, pints.

it was far too expensive for its ratings. the pilot was tremendous, and there's some brilliant character and storytelling in it, but i think ultimately what killed it was Sorkin's overthetop preaching. with Sports Night and West Wing, it was balanced, layered within the storytelling, but with S60, something i think he felt too closely, he couldn't get the necessary distance.

it also suffered, imho, from following Heroes...sooooooooooooooooo the wrong pairing.

NBC did let the show get a full season, so i'm pretty sure that a dvd will come out, but it might still be up at nbc's website. they streams eps of their shows.
