Oct. 4th, 2007 10:21 amit smells like a fall school day outside; not a cold smell, for the sun is warm and strong, but rather a September/October smell. smells of good and possible, new and beginning. smells of long, wood floored hallways and classrooms with floor to ceiling windows on one side; smells of kickball and dodgeball, lunch in a paper bag and 2:15 recess.
i love that smell, and i can't put a finger on its source. but summer smells different, and so does spring.
mmmmmmmm, sense memory.

Date: 2007-10-05 04:33 am (UTC)I LOVE that smell. Ali tells me I'm wierd, but I love it.
We haven't had that smell yet here, it is still too hot. Next week it is supposed to cool down for highs in the low 70s.
I was walking the dog tonight around 8:30. The lights were still on at the High School football stadium and the Field hockey game was still going on too. There were lots of chearing.
Yes, new beginings.... that is the way I feel about the fall. I do not see the dieing of the leaves, I feel the new beginings of school.
I love the fall!!!

Date: 2007-10-05 04:43 pm (UTC)I like it in the fall when you're sitting at a stop light and dry leaves blow catty corner across the road in a stiff wind. I have a special road I drive when the leaves are changing. It's rural and windy (it winds around, not a stiff breeze! LOL) and goes to wineries, which I can't drink anymore, but they also have grape juice which I can. Ahhhh.
