Nov. 25th, 2007 01:22 pmbeen reading a bit of the coverage on the most recent bout of wildfires in Malibu.
while always deeply, deeply tragic i remain confused. the Santa Ana winds are no surprise. everyone knows they come and everyone knows what they precipitate. so, then, WHY IN GOD'S NAME WOULD YOU OWN A WOODEN HOME IN MALIBU?????????????????????? what is wrong with your head? honestly, though, why would you own a home there at all? why would you risk your life, along with the equity in your home, the home itself, and the contents of said home, to live in a place where fires.ALWAYS.happen.???
i just....i don't understand.

Date: 2007-11-26 02:57 am (UTC)About 10 years ago we had severe flooding along the Mississippi and Minnesota river banks in this area. Most cities have declared the areas affected as flood plains. St. Paul is building luxury condos on ground that was under 10 ft of water during that flood. And people are buying them.
