grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Jul. 25th, 2005 09:44 pmthis stuff? drives me batty.
either trust the writers or don't, but do keep in mind something. it's not your personal show. they aren't writing the show to your specs, or to make you happy. they are telling their OWN story, to their specs, to make them happy. and sure, it's gotta find an audience or the point is moot, but first and foremost, they have to write the best story that they can, that they believe serves the story. you can either enjoy the ride or not. and if you don't, that's groovy, but for frak's sake recognize the difference.
they are telling a very specific story about humanity, the nature of it, loss, love, war, trying to find your way on a path you can't see, actions and consequences. the threads are complicated because the world they've created is complicated. that's what gives it depth. that's what keeps it from being shallow.
also? can you not bitch about WHAT HASN'T EVEN AIRED YET? you have no idea how it's going to play out on screen. you can't even tell that when you're watching a scene filmed live. the context to the rest of the show is EVERYTHING. and you're wigging out based on a whole TWO AIRED EPS? you have NO IDEA how it's going to play out for the rest of the season.
and why are we all nutted up about her hair?????? wtf? it's HAIR for frak's sake.
i think what drives me the most batty, though, is the whole "how dare the producers/writers give in to the wishes of the actors!!!! oh noes!!!!!@@@"
cuz maybe the actors have good ideas? cuz maybe the actors know their characters, sometimes better than some of the writers, and cuz maybe some of the actors have ideas that the producers really like and take the characters places the producers really want to go? the medium is collaborative and the actors are not trained monkeys. they are thinking and feeling and nuanced and intelligent. the best of them spend their entire career honing their craft. there is no show without them. and while sometimes going in a direction that the actors want can end badly, especially if the actor isn't about the story but about themselves, you will never achieve something amazing if you aren't willing to take risks.
