i guess sucker punches are so named because they are so unexpected, and as a result, all the more painful when you get hit with one.
i'm rather surprised, actually, that the snub hurt so much. felt like an actually body strike to the gut.
it's not that terribly big a deal; a former employee that i was good friends with, came to the station to support my newly promoted boss at a presentation before the city. the group walked right by myprison office, and other than my boss, i didn't see anyone else as i was doing something at the time. boss said hi and kept walking. about 2 minutes later, i heard former employee's voice down the hallway, calling out happily to former co-workers. at first, i'd try to rationalize the snub, offering the possible excuse that maybe former employee thought i was busy and didn't want to disturb. but then there was the whole having to wait almost 45 minutes for the presentation to start, spending that time talking to other former co-workers within earshot of my office, and the walking back by my office not once, but twice, without even breaking stride.
i can't tell if it was more of a sucker punch because of the snub, or because of how much the snub actually hurt.
