let's ignore the fact that the bad guy, who used the same fake id to get into the country would have had his so-called warrant discovered at the fucking airport...NOT on a routine traffic stop, conveniently after he'd just slit a guy's throat in a crowded restaurant and apparently no one cared.
let's also ignore the fact that SWAT has NOTHING to do with prisoner transport, high risk or not. that's what Marshalls get paid a whole lot of money for. and don't EVEN get me started on how any cop would just drive by a black and white that's PULLED OVER A LAW ENFORCEMENT TRANSPORT BUS???? wtf? if the bus would even fucking stop. oi.
[although, they did get the high sign right that cops give to other cops when they don't need help. the 4 fingers up.]
let's also ignore the fact that Gamble would have never broken protocol in the opening sequence and gotten himself kicked off SWAT, and then blown a gasket and tried to hit his CAPTAIN, in front of witnesses...the guy would never have made training, if he'd even gotten chosen in the first place. these guys are the elite of the elite and uber professional. they're not hot heads, their not renegades and they don't disobey orders.
let's also ignore the fact that TJ McCabe [kept seeing Casey McCall, which was crackin me up] would NEVER have turned just for money. with overtime, street level cops in the lowest paid county in California can clear 80-90K, EASY, and LAPD doesn't pay chump change. hell, dispatchers in Orange County make more than these SWAT guys supposedly made. a SWAT guy's gonna just turn essentially on a whim? riiiiiight.
and let's ignore the fact that the command post dispatcher, the guys in the command post, the brass, hell the DRIVER, would all have known that the second the team went subterranean they would have lost radio contact, and so, you know, kinda doesn't make anyone wonder if the whole team was dirty.
and really, let's TOTALLY ignore some of the truly craptastic dialogue.
the acting was really quite good from all the principles. the technical advisors deserve huge kudos because weapons handling and safety, movement, *especially* the "duck walk", was all spot on.
Colin Farrell's character, in particular, was well done; played very low key, which is what really well-trained, former military, good cops are. low key. they got nothing to prove, even in his position. they do their job and go home.
the team interaction was well done also, although why they kept giving Samuel L Jackson's character such obnoxious dialogue at times was kinda bizarre.
they got the down time right...playin' golf [cops are HUGE golf whores], watchin' old cop shows, bein' parents. that was a good little sequence.
even the Captain wasn't too over the top. i work for a few just.like.him.
overall? if it's on tv, and you like teh pretty and teh blowing stuff up, it's okay.
p.s. hey d...tell lori that he did good. *really* carried himself like a cop...well, except for the stupid bad guy stuff. :::rolls eyes:::
and now i have to write
