brilliant film. tight storytelling. stunning cinematography.

the sexiest Bond ever.

and arguably, the best Bond film ever made.

i'm not interested in revealing the plot here, because really, you need to experience it cold, but it's alluded to and i don't want anyone reading here unwilling.

he's soooooooo human, while still capable of chilling coldness. there's an honesty to him and a sweetness to this Bond, many, many times when he's not "on", but just a man named James, that only makes the inevitable hurt that much more. lovely character moments in little throw away scenes and transitions; holding the door open for the maid at the Ocean Club, standing up when a woman leaves the table, that open, lovely smile, calling M "ma'am" [or however you spell the British version].

and the opening sequence? guh. it's all sharp angles and grainy black and white, and feels so...British. not cliched, not stereotyped, but classic and old world, Cold War and gentlemen rules. i half expected to see Sir Alec sitting in the chair in Prague. the whole film has that Cold War feel really; The Spy Who Came In From The Cold or The Man Who Knew Too Much, or The Odessa Files.

i'm in love.

i've seen it twice and it's not enough.

and let's not forget Judi Dench. holymotherofthegods, she is superb. her opening rant is priceless. can they knight her again?

she gives so much depth to M, and to Bond. telling him what she tells him at the end, the discussion they have when she sends him to "bury his head in the sand". she cares so very much about the man, not just the asset. she's very much mother to his son.

"How does he *know* these things?" heh.

have i mentioned i'm in love?

Daniel Craig. i can't sigh deeply enough. sweet merciful zeus, he's hot. broad shouldered, rugged features, athlete's grace, and those icey blue eyes. guh.

and does he break pretty. ouch.

:::super sekrit note to tiger: you know you want to write it:::
