somedaybitchand in heretic tvland news, i very much enjoyed the pilot for NBC's The Black Donnellys. and like the Farscape vs Stargate wars before it, i refuse to see a competition of my loyalties between The Black Donnellys and Studio 60, given that the former now occupies the latter's timeslot. one show isn't "better" than the other. they're both different, and both good.
TBD has been long-planned as a mid-season replacement, and with that knowledge in mind, NBC still picked up the back 9 of S60's freshman season. does that mean the net sees it like i do? no clue, really.
the numbers for TBD's pilot were not stellar, and the second half drop off was, as i recall, something like 50% or more, but it didn't do worse than S60 in it's premiere, iirc. but i also think that TBD suffers from the same problem that S60 is getting killed by; it's not that either show isn't good, but rather that neither show should be following Heroes. the audiences, though i watch both, simply do not fully mix. heretically, i'd love to see S60 and TBD's as a 1-2 punch. and maybe the trio of shows could succeed where only a pairing fails. i dunno.
i just know that i like the two dramas, and making me choose just pisses me off, and making them follow a genre show is just dumb.
