still really enjoying Bones. not done with Season One yet, but about 3/4 thru i think. other than the Hodgins problem that they're clearly still trying to figure out as they go, they're character work is really quite excellent. they give sooooo many little moments to each character, especially the guest characters. take The Woman in the Car, for example. the scene where the US Attorney asshat does the whole, don't let your wife die in vain and the dad essentially tells him to fuck off with his line about getting it intellectually, the choice between testifying or saving his son, but that he wouldn't risk his son's life. such an awesome honesty and character moment.

I kind of love Bones a lot. It's really ridiculous in some places, but it's usually doing that on purpose. And I'm not one to give a shit about "wait, that's scientifically inaccurate" so that's not a problem for me. The heart of it really is the character stuff. It's not *always* on, but when it is, MAN OH MAN.

they actually get very, very little wrong...at least on the cop shop side. and in those places it's usually for a pretty plausible dramatic reason and it doesn't bug me in those instances.

but yeah, what i love about it is that there's very little procedure...it's the same thing i loved about X-Files; it wasn't about the cases, but rather how they coped with them. Bones has the same thing, only with more snark.

watching the ep in season 1 with the Salvadoran gang involved...they got that very right, and were smart enough to change the name of the gang. Mara Salvatruca is what the tv gang was based on, and is probably the single most dangerous gang in the US right now.
