In light of what is happening in Iran, I find it ironic, but mostly just sad, that a powerful corporation can shut down a lawful, peaceful assembly of citizens who want nothing more than to have their voices heard by their government. Disgusting.

i can't disagree.

Glenn's right, they ARE scared. Tea parties don't fit the narrative.

how dare you call yourself a "Democrat", let alone an American, and perpetrate something like this? /enraged

heh.

the snarky part of me would love to lay this in the lap of the guy I didn't vote for but that wouldn't be fair.

it's a symptom of the larger disease of current political thought -and on a larger scale, public discourse in general. we *must* work to get back to a place where we discuss our political disagreements as adults, where we remember that this country was founded on allowing, willingly allowing, all voices to have their say and respecting those voices, and that that dissent, is legitimate, necessary and right.

to take an action like this, on the eve of America's celebration of our Independence, is utterly abhorrent.

yeah, me too... but. The Chicago Way has gotten more refined, but it is still essentially the same. Refer to Daley et. al. although in some ways it is remarkably useful to get things done in Chicago. in some ways. but chicago politics hasn't changed much in 100 years, and what happened in Atlanta is definitely a branch of that same idea...

and people have the unmitigated gaul to argue that living in big cities is better for society than a suburban community. erhm, yeah, no.
