you're a public servant of the people. you and your department are public servants of the community. you are bound by law to uphold law. the public has a RIGHT to demand and ensure that you and your department are upholding that law correctly. calling "coward" people who are watchdogging you....not cool. also? i'm sorry, but what exactly do you have to hide? if nothing, then may i suggest you suck.it.the.fuck.up.

the Supremes have already ruled that checkpoints are only legal when citizens are publicly informed ahead of time, and also have alternate routes available to them. oh, that wacky 5th Amendment.

"I think that's the whole point of this program," she told The Examiner. "It's designed to circumvent law enforcement -- law enforcement that is designed specifically to save lives."

here's a thought: get off your moral high horse. i've been on the inside of the job. i was privy to conversations with a DA's office about the creation of a red light program. has it reduced accidents in the installed intersections? you bet. but you know what it's also done? garnered lots and lots of revenue. which is fine, honestly - departments have to have operating capital inflow somehow - but that also means that you have no moral high ground there, byeotch.

heh, 10% of the red-light cameras in the country are in D.C. Go fig. The thing about the revenues is that they fall and they are SUPPOSED to do so. The ideal situation is that nobody runs the light. At which point it's no longer profitable... Hence the conflict of interest in having them. Which causes various jurisdictions to shorten their yellow times to keep the revenue up, astonishingly causing more accidents...

as you have surmized, I think Lanier has forgotten the purpose of her office, and certainly who she works for.
