somedaybitchjust a short comment on the ludicrous kerfluffle in Cambridge:
when the original call for service is a witness reporting what could be a res burglary in progress - having WATCHED someone jimmy a door open - the cop is going to want to verify the identity - and right to access - of whomever answers the door. that is the very definition of a cop's job.
to do anything less is not only poor law enforcement, but in some states is prosecutable, both in criminal and civil courts, and is a violation of every.single.agency's.rules.and.regs.
the cop asking the person that answered the door to step out onto the porch is both good law enforcement tactics, allows a wider range of rights for the officer to legally engage in, and is just smart officer safety.
the responding officers were a white male, a black male, and an asian male. that's pretty fucking representative of populace demographics.
Gates is an asshat.

I am also seething over Obama's insertion into affairs. STFU, seriously. This is a local matter. Your friend is a jackass. Step back and be presidential and and actually pay attention to IMPORTANT things.
