now this is *my* idea of an Apocalypse Film.

and Paul Bettany as the Archangel Michael? win-win.

plus, it's the kind of apoca-thriller that feeds into my default irritation with the concept of The Big Kahuna; if you create a creature that is self-aware and you give it free will, you have no bloody business whatsoEVER being surprised when it does whatever the fuck it wants. you also have no moral high ground; you're omniscient, so it's not like the outcome would be a shocker.

I'm SO TORN about it. On the one hand, Paul Bettany as Archangel Michael, and end of the world stuff is cool. On the other, the redband trailer showed stuff that was significantly past my (relatively low) horror/gore/gross out tolerance level. I'm a total pussy when it comes to horror film violence. :(

If they made a non gorey version I'd be on that shit in a second.

i'm not that into the gore violence myself, so i can relate, but it didn't look that grosstastic to me.

or, at least, not enough to put me off of seeing Bettany in angel wings.

There are two trailers out there, a green band and a red band (the later w/ more explicit stuff) and the later had some pretty effed up stuff. (pokes around) Yup, the one linked above is the greenband.

Here's the redband http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1iPpveCuLw On the bright side it's like 5 minutes, but I hope it's not a buzz kill w/ the gore :(

I will probably do the same. *sigh* I'm such a slut for Paul Bettany.

I can totally handle Fight Club type real world style violence, but I had some traumatic horror movie incidents as a child (note: even if your 8 year old is fine watching a double feature of Friday the Thirteenth and Nightmare on Elm Street, it is still not a good choice for their birthday party because maybe some of the other kids are a wee bit more sensitive, know what I'm saying? WTF is wrong w/ some people?) and horror movie gore ends up creeping me out for days afterward. :(

;) i saw it in college, and I think the reason i laughed is because it looks old, so I couldn't get beyond that.. I thought i would be scared, which is why i waited so long to watch it....
