actually, this is the 2nd study i've heard of that talks about this phenomenon and there's more study in this area going on... not necessarily bullshit, but too early in the research to say anything overly conclusive.

it goes hand in hand with the research that shows that strippers on birth control get less tips than those who have a natural cycle during their more fertile days.

well the latter i can certainly buy in terms of pheromones and such maybe being different and thus happening on a subconscious level.

but to the former, and strictly anecdotally, pretty boys have never, ever, appealed to me and that's never changed, not even a little bit.

I can go for pretty, or for a guy with some heighth and breadth to him, some meat on his bones.

It makes me think of that mini-series a few years back, Invasion Earth, where the number of male children born per year was decreasing at perceptible rates, due to a PLOT!

It's from the Daily Fail, a rag utterly notorious for its lack of journalistic integrity and history of just making shit up (even MORE so than the usual mainstream media). Most likely they pulled some out of context quotes together in order to get a good story out of it, and never mind what the study actually said.

yeah, without stating how many women are actually on the pill at a given time, in a given place... and that place would be hollywood, since that is one of their supposed proofs... how various contraceptives change perceptions that IS a worthwhile study, but astoundingly difficult. I think the change in looks during the cycle is measurable, even if it is subtle. I have seen it before in portraiture photography... I assumed that it was due to the girl having the first shoot during her period [as let slip by her mom... THAT argument was nuclear] and not feeling good at all. After roughly an hour of me trying to get the best shots I could, I told her to reschedule the next week. I had no trouble at all getting a boatload of good shots. It was the best portrait sale I ever had, everyone liked them so much. I figured it was MORE than the difference between feeling good and bad...

The easiest non-PC way to do this is to have 5 guys walk into a bar, have them rate the women in there, then ask the women what part of the cycle they are in. I'd have to guess the one rated most smokin' hot by all 5 would be ovulating. That wouldn't be pheromones, because they don't act at a distance in a setting like that.

This stuff is really hard to study scientifically though, since it is so subjective... you can study the mechanism all you want, but how it effects individuals might be kinda hard.
