MTV's Splash Page is doing a 5 part retrospective on The Crow to celebrate the film's 15yr anniversary.

i loved that movie.

i was so haunted by that film because of Brandon Lee's death. the resonance, the poignancy, between the story in the film and how that story echoed in the real life tragedy of an accidental death on a film set never ceases to touch me deeply.

the retrospective is a compilation of interview nuggets and is well worth the read.

i hope that Lee's family and friends have found peace.

How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, an afternoon that is so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four, or five times more? Perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it all seems limitless..."

and because it seems limitless, we can live it as if it was... if we knew when the end was, our hearts wouldn't withstand the sadness.

which is a good thing ultimately, i think. but we forget too easily that it's a treasure to be cherished; a priviledge, as it were, not a right.
